This semester we'll be experimenting with using Windows7-based tablets as Google Earth/Liquid Galaxy controllers or alternate mapping consoles or something interesting!
These are ASUS Eee Slate PC's
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Slate_EP121/, the school bought a bunch for academics & projects to use and a couple have fallen my direction. I haven't investigated but they may capable of running Linux. However, for better or worse, our students have more experience with Windows dev.
