G'day,

Is the white text at the bottom of the Google Earth window stopping your enjoyment of that lovely panoramic image on your LG rig?
If so, then install the "Invisible" font and select it as your "3D Font" in the Google Earth setting/preferences dialog.

You'll have to cope with ALL labelling text also disappearing... road names, cities, countries, etc.

Before and After image attached.

You may not win any friends at Google for this!

Hi folks,

As your friendly Google Maps and Earth Marketer, I have to ask you not to do this. We have committed to our data providers that we will attribute their content in all uses, and this is just unfair to those companies and organizations whose satellites, airplanes, and people worked hard to put this content in your hands at zero or little cost to you.

Thanks for understanding.

Jesse

Agree! I wouldn't want to upset anyone who could have frickin' laser-beams mounted on their satellites!

I guess you could still do this if you have rights to ALL the content being displayed?

We have several imagery/model/data licenses and home-grown content that can overlay or replace the free content when using Google Earth as a rendering platform. In that case the footer copyright attribution is no longer correct, or at least needs additional crediting.

Hi Jesse, Can I ask someone to make a call about requiring the footer attributions to be visible on every screen of a LG rig?

See attached snap. The centre machine has normal font settings, surrounding machines are using Invisible.

In theory this would be no different from someone with a multi-head video card stretching a single GE over multiple windows, they would only get one footer. We get it on every screen!

Both are fair points!

It's actually very different. Google Earth knows how to provide attribution
for imagery within it's view.

Notice that the attribution is NOT the same on every screen of an LG setup
because each instance is viewing different areas (as is the beauty of LG).

Someone with a single graphics card (and a single instance of Earth) would
get a longer list of attribution at the bottom for the various imagery
involved in a larger view.

Thanks.

Hi Yes this is an issue for us in our 9m 360º igloo dome setup too.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbiaR3SDEKE
We would also like to turn off all control, peg men etc etc except on the master??

How do I get to talk to someone about legalities of using our setup in schools etc??
We also have education shows coming up and would love to use our LG teleporter.
Currently at Olympics Weymouth with a large dome working with Plymouth UNI... they would love to use LG too but not sure how to be legal???

My company is www.igloovision.com maybe someone could give us a call about what the devil we should do??

Many thanks

Craig

Craig, Are you saying you want to run Google Earth without the Earth branding and licensee tags?

With the branding/ownerships intact you can 'use it' (again I'm no google rep).

But perhaps for really large groups you may want to chase this with http://www.google.com/earth/media/licensing.html
Particularly the Permissions Guidelines http://www.google.com/permissions/geoguidelines.html

Works perfectly. Now we just need a way of removing the annoying Google Earth logo as well. Then perhaps the program is bearable to use.

I don't give a shit about legality. Text plastered on top of images is annoying as hell and should be removed. I don't get why people make a piece of software who's purpose is to show images, and then obstruct the view of those images with text. It is insane, and it defeats the purpose of the whole thing. We should be able to show the image full screen without anything at all on top. No copyright text, no logo, no navigation tools, no menu bar, no nothing. That is what we want when viewing images of the Earth.

My 5 cents, Earth is an amazing viewer for a whole swag of licensed data & imagery.
Part of the agreement for the using that imagery thru Google Earth will include showing the attribution.

You may have noticed for some of the new 3D City imagery the attribution is reduced to a single line "(c) 2014 Google", which is neat.

Cheers, Andrew

You get what you pay for.  If you don't like what Google is providing, and the encumbrances placed on that relationship by the resources it uses, feel free to fork over the money to acquire all that earth observation data on your own.  Then you can display it without any copyright information.

It might be worth your time to review a couple of the more popular OSI Licenses while you're in the process, to get a good understanding of how even though things may be Open Source, there are still rights reserved and limitations.  http://opensource.org/licenses

And fundamentally, it is about respect.  Many of us work in very passionate areas, I for one in Space Exploration, and we can certainly appreciate your passion and zeal for things to be "perfect" for your circumstances.  And there may be a number of things which can be done to improve your experience and make these annoying notices and disclaimers a bit less annoying - which you are welcome to figure out on your own, or solicit advise from those of us who have done it before.  But if you prefer advice from our experience, please do not disrespect the community, or you are welcome to figure it out on your own.
