Hi Everybody!

Today is another wonderful day for Liqo: the second release of the project (v0.2) is available!

Liqo is an open-source project started at Politecnico of Turin that allows expanding your Kubernetes cluster seamlessly and securely. With Liqo, you can leverage resources available on clusters anywhere, giving you more flexibility when running your applications.

This second release represents a significant improvement in the Liqo experience.

Liqo can now create K8s cluster peerings across public and private clouds, greatly extending the execution domain for your applications.

In particular, the second release adds the following features:

  • Support for secure geographic networks. Using Liqo, clusters can now establish secure interconnections across the geographic networks, with the dynamic discovery of the required parameters (e.g., remote IP addresses).

  • Resilient network overlay. The Liqo network overlay leverages dedicated pods that can be automatically restarted or relocated to another server in case of problems.

  • Resilient pod offloading: Offloaded pods can survive even in case of temporary connectivity loss with the home cluster or peering issues at run-time.

  • Support for managed clusters: Liqo now supports clusters running on GKE and AKS. More details are available here.

Take a look at the source code on GitHub or the documentation on the Liqo website. Let us know what you think via our Slack or Twitter profile. Stay tuned to join our announcement newsletter.

If you like the project, please do not forget to “star” it on Github!
