Hi again, everyone,

I wanted to keep this message separate so that it didn't get missed.

I am excited to announce that George Desjarlais of the Frog Lake Cree First Nation (Edmonton, AB Canada) will be doing a virtual presentation at LIPS 2025. George will be discussing how he uses his portable planetarium to share stories and teachings from his culture, helping to keep traditions and the language alive.

George will also tell some Cree star stories, and he will provide some guidance on telling stories from different cultures in a respectful manner.

George uses Digitalis portable equipment, and we were so impressed with his work that we made him one of our first Planetarium Leaders. I've attached his profile here so that you can get a sense of the amazing work George is doing.

Those at LIPS 2025 will have the opportunity to interact with George. I plan to record his session and share it via the LIPS site (likely a week or so after LIPS 2025 ends).

Thanks,
Karrie

What a wonderful opportunity! Thanks for sharing, Karrie. I look forward to seeing the recording of George’s presentation. This seems like valuable information for all of us.

The Pennsylvania State University campuses are located on the original homelands of the Erie, Haudenosaunee (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora), Lenape (Delaware Nation, Delaware Tribe, Stockbridge-Munsee), Shawnee (Absentee, Eastern, and Oklahoma), Susquehannock, and Wahzhazhe (Osage) Nations.  Penn State's land grant was funded by the sale of land expropriated from more than 112 tribal nations, from 50 land cessions across 16 states.
