2.
Opening keynote workshop on Wednesday, July 23. This year will
feature a theater skills workshop by John Kaufmann
and Dan Dennis, the forces behind the dreamy, musical astronomy adventure Starball!

Both John and Dan are former supervisors of the Willard Smith Planetarium at Pacific Science Center (also my former home dome). Their planetarium experience makes their workshops especially applicable for teaching in a dome, with exercises chosen to enhance performance skills essential to interactive programs.
3.
Virtual session with George Desjarlais on Thursday, July 24. A reminder that George
Desjarlais of the Frog Lake Cree First Nation (Edmonton, AB, Canada),
will discuss
how he uses his portable planetarium to share stories and teachings
from his culture, helping to keep traditions and the language alive.
George will also tell some Cree star stories, and he will provide
advice
on telling stories from different cultures in a respectful,
appropriate manner. Those
in attendance at LIPS 2025 will be able to interact directly with
George.
4.
Opportunity
to watch fellow LIPS attendees in action.
We
will once
again have
guest presenters leading public shows in the Fiske Planetarium, on
the afternoon of Wednesday, July 23. LIPS attendees will then give
feedback on these programs. In past years, this has been seen as one of the most valuable and inspiring parts of LIPS.
