I have the same issue once again. My freeware Toad Data Modeler expires Oct 2021 (8days). I am trying to download the latest freeware and continue. I have downloaded using the link from Jeff above and when I go thru the install it says that version expired a few months ago. I have tried both 32 and 64 bit. I don't get an install dialog as such, but a Repair or Remove option?? Is there something new in freeware that I am not aware of?
I am a retired database person who participates in Access forums. I find the freeware version useful and helpful in responding to forums posts. Can someone advise on getting continued use of the freeware version? Direct link to community or to the proper download.
Any advice appreciated.
Thank you

Thanks for the info Petr/Daril. When I first downloaded TDM freeware, I recall an article by one of the Toad Data Modeler/Quest people that there would always be a free version. It would be restricted in function and capacity, but it would always be there. Seems times have changed. I used to use the community edition of Erwin when I retired (2007) and then it was removed(2015). That's when I found the TDM freeware and it has been helpful even though I use it quite infrequently. I have used it to assist Access forum members with data base and design. Sad to see this freeware being withdrawn.

The community edition of Erwin, like the Freeware edition of TDM was free -typically had to be renewed annually. But both these "community"/"limited functionality" products have been terminated. Totally agree that ErWin and TDM are cost prohibitive for a retiree who dabbles in various database/data model forums.

Appears we have different needs. I wanted a simple tool to help with logical and physical data models when responding to posters on a few database forums. I worked several years in database and data management and we used ErWin. I've been retired 14 years and for most of the time (up to 2016 or so) I used the community edition of ErWin. When it was made no longer available, I looked around for other options. I found the Toad Data Modeler freeware and used it up until earlier this year. Since the software was only used about 10 times per year, and only to assist others on forums who were learning or who had difficulties with data structures/normalization and modeling generally, it makes no sense to buy a full function product. I am volunteering some time to help others with concepts or options. I am not building, maintaining or selling anything.
You seem to have a need for a product capable of supporting Postgres 12. If TDM works for you, and since you are participating in a TOAD forum, why not discuss options with TOAD.
Good luck

Visualize database structures and better understand existing databases and relationships. Create high-quality logical and physical data models. Reverse engineer existing database structures to view them in a diagram. Generate detailed HTML, RTF or PDF reports.
Create quality database structures or make changes to existing models automatically, and provide documentation on multiple platforms. Build complex logical and physical entity relationship models, and easily reverse and forward engineer databases.
Connect multiple databases natively and simultaneously, including Oracle, SAP, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, Ingres, and Microsoft Access. Synchronize models with existing databases using Change Script Generations and Update Model features. Easily convert data structures from one database platform to another to support business migration initiatives.
I am new to the Toad Data Modeler. I have created a couple for ERDs through this tool. I would say this is a wonderful tool. But after creating the ERDs, there are a couple of changes in the database. I have designed the model in a printable format with great difficulty (as I am not a good designer). But once the change is made, I am not able to revise my ERD. I have tried it through Update Model from Database (I got this idea from a different thread)
Toad Data Modeler is a database design tool allowing users to visually create, maintain, and document new or existing database systems, and to deploy changes to data structures across different platforms. It is used to construct logical and physical data models, compare and synchronize models, generate complex SQL/DDL, create and modify scripts, and reverse and forward engineer databases and data warehouse systems. Toad's data modelling software is used for database design, maintenance and documentation.
I need to start a long-term project in mapping out data tables so that we can get a high-level view of what information we store in our Oracle database and how the tables are linked to each other. This is largely for GDPR preparation.
Since our organization has been around for a number of decades, its database is massive. With TOAD for Oracle, I'm able to see all columns in our tables easily, so I started looking at different database mapping tools (ER/ONE, DDM, Astah) but they all look like I need to manually create all the tables and columns and draw their relationships out by hand.
I'm hoping to minimize as much manual labor as possible and am wondering if using TOAD data modeler would help since I'm using TOAD for Oracle anyways. Could I somehow automate the table, column, and relationship creation process?
Any decent data modelling tool supports reverse engineer a physical data model from an existing schema. How good the derived model is will depend on how good your schema is (my bet: decades of development without an existing data modelling tool? not good). For instance, if your schema has foreign keys the reverse engineering process will use them to draw the relationships between tables (even if they are disabled). But if there are no foreign keys then you're on your own.
We can easily create a data model of an existing database schema using the Toad Data Modeler Reverse Engineering wizard and then using the Convert Model Wizard to convert that model to another database platform.
If we want to see the data model entities larger, we can use the zoom tool in the icon bar or simply place the mouse over each entity so we can see the maximized object in the Collapsible Pane on the bottom area of the window.
SQLite is an in-process library that implements a self-contained, serverless, zero-configuration, transactional SQL database engine. The code for SQLite is in the public domain and thus is free for use for any purpose, commercial or private.
The generation of the script is not totally automatic. When we work with basic models we usually have no problems, but when our data model is more complex we need to work manually with the Toad Data Modeler generated script to avoid errors when we execute the script on the target platform.
With the emergence of so-called free and open source database software solutions, more and more companies are looking to break free from the grip of high cost database software. Just as quickly as management sees the dollar signs in savings, the data architects and DBAs see the headaches brought about to make this change/move a reality.
Quest Software offers a powerful line of tools in its Toad Family of products to simplify the task at hand. Toad Data Modeler and Toad Data Point take the worry out of having to recreate a data model and data preparation needs. Users can create models from 16 data sources and extract data from over 30 different data sources. Utilizing these tools will take the headache out of migrating from an existing database platform to a new one, freeing a company from that database software grip to explore those free and open source database solutions.
