LipidXplorer and linux

Dear Ronny,

I understood from the installation page that it is also possible to install LipidXplorer under Linux. I'am running Ubuntu 16.04. Can you help me installing LipidXplorer under Linux?

Dear Rico,

the current version of LipidXplorer should run automatically under Linux. Just download it and install all necessary Python packages which are list on the web page. On Linux this should be even simpler as on Windows because you can just use "pip". For installing matplotlib you just need to type "pip install matplotlib" and so on.

Just try. If you encounter an error message it most probably just does not find a certain library. Then just install this library with pip. If you need help, just copy the error message and mail it to me. I'll help you.

Dear Ronny,

I got all the libraries installed, but if I try to run LipidXplorer I get : Segmentation fault (core dumped).

Unfortunately there is no more output. Or is it logged somewhere?

I installed all libraries with pip. wxPython was a bit of a challenge, but I got all the libraries installed. I'am running Ubuntu Mate 16.04 (64-bit). Is it maybe a problem that I don't have the correct versions? For example, I installed wxPython with pip install wxPython and it installed version 4.0

Dear Rico,

yes, wxPython is the problem. I had the same problems with wxPython > 2.8.

Can you try installing wxPython 2.8? I don't remember exactly how I did it, but it was a bit cumbersome. Since you have Ubuntu 16.04 you need some old packages. Maybe this helps. Don't forget to remove wxPython 4.0. I guess this works with pip uninstall.
