I have been using UIPath Studio to automate some processes in a third party Oracle Forms application. Everything had been working fine until for some reason, when creating some new activities, I received a prompt which said something along the lines of

Without really knowing what I was doing, I clicked Yes. Since then, the sequence I had created, which basically just logs into the Oracle Forms application and clicks through a few screens, has stopped working.

This page presents the most frequent reasons for which the UiPath Extension for Java might not work properly, and how to solve these issues. Check if the Java extension works properly Check if UiPath Studio can retrieve valid Java selectors To check...

Oracle forms can only be automated with the extension installed. In case something went wrong when you clicked ok on the pop-up, can you run the java extension setup from studio? close any java application beforehand

However, the "tech support" advice you got was almost certainly crap. They just wanted to get rid of you ("have you tried turning it off and on again"). Uninstalling and reinstalling will do nothing to help the situation, and if it would, reinstalling alone would be sufficient (e.g. just use `pacman -S jre7-openjdk`).

Now there are several proprietary java tools that will only run with oracle's official java (from the AUR), and sometimes only with specific versions of it. For a current project, I need to use BlackBoard Collaborate. It took a while to troubleshoot, but that only runs with oracle's jre8 from the aur (none of the openjdk packages worked, no other version of oracle's jre worked).

"Update 161" means "latest oracle java version", and most likely means that Trilby is right about the tech support. I assume Java8 will do, but is presently not used (7 is the configured default) - see the link I posted on how to try Java8 w/ the program.

Select the Uninstall key and "Find" from the "Edit" menu. Search for "Java." This should show which subkey the Java is located under. One of the keys is "UninstallString." Use this command to uninstall Java. Note however, this will only work on other machines if the exact same version of Java is installed.

I cant type my password in terminal so I can uninstall Java per Mac instructions. It is like my keyboard is dead. I have a Macbook Pro (2011) ElCapitan version 10.11.2 ..I don't have the vaguest idea what to do.

Normal in terminal you do not see the password as it is typed in. When using terminal you have get the command exactly right to do it. I do not know what java you are trying to uninstall or why. If you have looked it up on a website, it is easier to copy and paste the command then to try to write it down and do it.

Ginger, I reallyappreaciate you help. I did copy and paste from the instructions for Mac. I have typed the password and it says it is not right. I used the one I originally thought it was and like you said and it still rejects it. I doesnt even give me a dos or a line or a cursor so I know where to type.I just guess I need hands on help

I accidentally installed Java 9, instead of Java 8, so now all my Eclipse projects give me these warnings: Build path specifies execution environment JavaSE-1.8. There are no JREs installed in the workspace that are strictly compatible with this environment.

You can manually add the location of other installed JREs in Eclipse via Preferences / Java / Installed JREs , press Add, and then point it to one of the locations should with the -V option above. You can then check it to select which is default for your projects.

I realized no additional JDK's would appear after using the Java 8 installer (besides Java 9). When doing further research, it turns out I had installed the other version that is not a SE development kit and it was just working in web browsers, not for the terminal.

Do not attempt to uninstall Java by removing the Java tools from /usr/bin. This directory is part of the system software and any changes will be reset by Apple the next time you perform an update of the OS.

I tried to install Android Studio but it gave me several problems.Among them is that they told me that it need Java 8 while on my PC Java 11 is installed.
When I run java -version, the result is the following:

No need to uninstall your other java version(s) that's already installed on your machine.Whenever required, you can conveniently use the utility 'update-alternatives' to choose the Java runtime that you wish to activate. It will automagically update the required symbolic links.

/usr/bin/java is a symbolic link to /etc/alternatives/java which is in turn is a symbolic link to /usr/lib/jvm/java-11-oracle/bin/java. From this, it seems that you've downloaded and configured Oracle's Java 11. Moreover JDK doesn't appear as an standalone app in Ubuntu Software.

The program might require a specific version of java to run. You probably have to download openjdk 8 from the java website or by using the command-line, the link with provide instructions on how to do so. deleting the previous version of java shouldn't be necessary

My first request is about creating a task (or should it be a fixlet) to completely uninstall Java 7 or 6, from a Win7 box. Can someone assist? I think having the relevance and action would be helpful.

I'm setting up a system to keep Java in our office up to date. Everyone has all different versions of Java, many of them old and insecure, and some dating back as far as 1.4. I have a System Center Essentials server which can push out and silently run a .msi file, and I've already tested that it can install the latest Java. But old versions (such as 1.4) aren't removed by the installer, so I need to uninstall them. Everyone is running Windows XP.

The neat coincidence is that Sun just got bought by Oracle and Oracle has now changed all the instances of "Sun" to "Oracle" in Java. So, I can conveniently not have to worry about uninstalling the latest Java, because I can just do a search and uninstall all Sun Java programs.

Reading through the script, I don't understand everything, but I don't know why it is trying to run pieces of registry keys as programs. What is wrong with the batch script? How can I fix it, so that I can move on to somehow turning it into a MSI and deploying it to everyone to clean up this office?

Or alternatively, can you suggest a better solution or existing MSI file to do what I need? I just want to make sure to get all the old versions of Java off of everyone's computers, since I've heard of exploits that cause web pages to load using old versions of Java and I want to avoid those.

Over time, you may have installed multiple versions of Java to run available Java content. In the past, each Java update was installed in separate directories on your system. However, Java updates are now installed in a single directory.

Should I remove older versions of Java? We highly recommend users remove all older versions of Java from your system. Keeping old and unsupported versions of Java on your system presents a serious security risk. Removing older versions of Java from your system ensures that Java applications will run with the most up-to-date security and performance improvements on your system.

So I'm currently starting the android development track. I did some goofs in installing the Java Developer's Kit; I installed in the wrong file location, so I just manually deleted the files out of the programfiles folder. Which, I guess, was a big mistake.

When I attempt to reinstall, it won't let me! I tried uninstalling the program with CCleaner also, which shows up as an installed program despite having any program files folder. Both times, I get the SAME error:

But thank you for your recommendation! I'll have to keep JRa in mind.. in the end, I just did a system restore to undo all the stuff I did. Next time I mess up, I'll be sure to use JRa to clean up the remnants!

I am trying to upgrade my ISY 994i/IR Pro from version 4.8.0 to the 5.X range and having considerable difficulty. I go to the Java (32-bit) program in Control Panel (Windows 10), and on the General tab I click on Settings, then Delete Files.... I select the Installed Applications and Applets, click on OK, and I get an Application Error "Unable to uninstall application(s)". If I select the Details button from this window it says my Error is an "illegal URL redirect" with the Exception showing as the following:

Dollars to doughnuts, unless you're running an ancient Windows machine (i386 or something, which I'll bet Windows 10 won't run on), then shouldn't you be using the 64 bit version of Java? I'd give it a try.

Where did you download java and did you download the full version or just the runtime? Specifically just go to www.java.com and click the download button it will select the correct runtime for the machine you're using, you do not need the SDK version. Some of those error message paths suggest you got something else.

I came to the board hoping to find a solution to this very same problem. My symptoms are identical, including being unable to remove the Administrative Console in Java and the same "illegal URL redirect" message in GreyFox's original post. I am running the 64-bit version of Java. Having now upgraded to 5.3.1, most of my system is working, but I've lost access to all sensors. I can control connected devices from the Administrative Console, but can't see device status. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
