You can highlight important files, folders, or links in a document library in SharePoint in Microsoft 365 or SharePoint Server 2019 by pinning them to the top of the document library. When you pin an item, a thumbnail image will appear at the top of the document library page making it easier for users to find it. You then simply click the image to open the item in the browser window. If you click the top right corner of the thumbnail image, the menu at the top left of the document library will change to a list of additional actions you can take on that item.

What i do in that case, is then (Right click) on the Read email (Subject) in the folder and select (Mark as Unread) and then go to another email in that mail folder. The Unread number count then comes back next to the folder.

I've always highlighted important folders with colors, so that they stand out among others in a list for quicker access. Now in Mavericks list view, there is only a small color dot to the right of the folder's name (sometimes very far from the folder's name if the column is large). As a result, it is much harder to pick important folders. Is there any way to apply the tag color to the whole folder, as it used to be in all previous systems? Or at the very least, to move the dot to the left of the folder name within lists, as in Icon view? I really hope Apple did not remove this feature simply for the sake of design. Thanks.

None of the third party plug-in/hacks work with El Capitan without disabling the new(ish) System Integrity Protection. Now, I imagine that SIP has been added for good reason, so, being that this feedback page no longer exists:

I'm asking AGAIN, as have so many others, for Apple (PLEASE be monitoring this forum, Apple, PLEASE!) to reinstate this function before form detail of the finder that makes actually FINDING things so much easier.

I have been a loyal customer for years! I miss fully-colored names in Finder very much. The only thing I could think of to do would be to provide Apple with feedback. Please, everybody do this and we can hope that Apple will listen. I think full-colored labels have been missing since the version sometime in 2011 thereabouts. Path Finder still supports this, but the labels will not show up outside of Path Finder (in save dialogs etc.).

Currently, the colored labels add a dot to each file. What I need and miss are colored file names just as they were before. This was great because the files and directories would stand out more to the eye.

Thanks, Viking - I'm going over to that help page (why alllllll the links to the Apple feedback page were yielding Page Not Found up until YOURs is a mystery, but who cares. Thank you.) - I'm on my way there now. You can't get "yes" unless you ask. Always worth a shot!

I have switched to TotalFinder after XtraFinder apparently stopped their development. TotalFinder works very nicely, it is not freeware but not expensive either. You do have to briefly/temporarily disable SIP to complete its installation, but it will keep working after you reenable SIP fully. Folders and names are colored again, and it has many other perks such as automatic column sizing.

Purple = job transferred to another co-worker (i.e., I got too busy and they're working on it now). This one is a rarer color, and with Tags it's a bit difficult to discern one or two purple (more like a light lavender) dots in a sea of gray ones.

My only major issue with Mavericks is that labels are now gone, replaced by tags. I need the strong color highlight of labels to organize my files and folders and have quick visual access to important ones. The tiny tag dot is not sufficient, in particular in list view where it sits to the right. The new ability to sort files by tag is nice, but still does not help distinguish files in a regular list view (my use of color labels was unfortunately not linked to any logic, just used as highlight to stand out from others, so sorting by color does not work well for me). In addition, it is inconsistent from a design standpoint as the blue dot means "updated app" in iOS 7 and something completely different here.

Same problem as S.G. "My only major issue with Mavericks is that labels are now gone, replaced by tags. I need the strong color highlight of labels to organize my files and folders and have quick visual access to important ones" I only get the strong color highlight when I'm going to share the file on an email, I always want it.

Same problem as S.G. and LinaAng: "My only major issue with Mavericks is that labels are now gone, replaced by tags. Another one missing the old Label coloring. The greater flexibility of Tags is great - but if you choose to associate a Tag with a Color (which is optional) then please simply restore the option of the old Label coloring scheme - which is visually easier and superior for many users. Thanks and feedback sent.

I have access to multiple folders within my workspace, like everyone does. I would like the ability to highlight folders. And my highlighting would be exclusive to my account. Others that have access to the same folders would not see my highlighting. The main folder names (mostly created by others), are so similar. I often have to look through multiple folders to determine what I am actively working in. Provide perhaps 8-10 different colors (pastel - medium colors) and allow a highlighting of the folder name (or sheet folder) similar to this:

Adding my thoughts here on Conditional Formatting. Not everyone likes to see "color coding"/conditional formatting on sheets. It would be a great feature to have Conditional Formatting settings by user just like filters. If I set it up only I can see it unless I check the box "Share Conditional Formatting".

We have a sheet with a contact list drop down. What we would like to do is have the user's first and last name with their email address added to this drop down list when the account is created and added to the Everyone group. Has anyone else looked at this option?

Within Salesforce Quip, there is a Smartsheet Integration. I think it was developed by Smartsheet. Problem: The integration doesn't have a selection for the new Board view. One may only select from Grid, Gantt, Card, and Calednar. See my capture below. Thanks for looking into this. -Marc

This is not exactly what you are looking for, but I'm not sure if what you are asking is possible. If you select Finder option Always open folders in a new window then the original window with the highlighted folder will be preserved.

I find it mind boggling that 5 years ago (a 2018 "new idea" which is now closed) customers were requesting the ability to change folder colors and this still is not possible. From what I've read it's actually less flexible now than it was a few years ago...

I realize UI/UX people like things to look "pretty" but we live in a colorized world (well, except for my colorblind son) and being able to RAPIDLY distinguish between colors is imperative to moving quickly when searching through folders.

And the next step would be to go completely crazy and allow us to use our own internally-created Icons rather than mandated by DB icons. Very frustrating... We need Dropbox to help us operate faster. Not slower. Summary: Know thy customer.

For us is very interesting to customize the colour folders. One colour is better to look for very quickly on the screen the important folder specially when we have a lot folders. Other option is to assign colours by permission groups.

I agree. This has been ignored since 2018. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD a color-coding feature to the folders. I see someone originally asked about this in 2018 so I'm not sure this will go very far, however, I am trying to convert my family over to Dropbox and this is one of the features that everyone wants!!

the ability to change a folder color and add icons, so when I share a folder with a client they can see the different colors or icons I have used on their folders. Like folder marker that I use on Windows.

Color customization on folders would be really amazing - many underestimate the power of color-coding in improving efficiency, and may not realize how useful customizable colors have even been for them and I find that interesting as personally I have a harder time without that. Even some 5 colors would be enough. Some can do just fine with only 2 colors and I think that's cool, but a complete lack of such option is honestly a huge bummer - not to mention making the process much slower than it would've been otherwise. If not that at least some emoji or something at the beginning of the folder title would be good and enough, but still no such feature has been added. It's a huge bummer and I'm hoping some feature like that can be added in the future

Seriously? It was requested dozens of times in 2018 (FIVE FREAKING YEARS AGO) and ignored. I (OP) attempted to restart the thread (which has rec'd a fair amount of attention / comments) and now it's being mothballed again.? I sincerely appreciate the honestly / clarity ("we're not pursuing this") but I am quite serious when I say this is a GROSS miscalculation by Dropbox. Dropbox is lightyears ahead of OneDrive (the worst app I've ever encountered) but I will begin actively considering / researching other options due to not only this product shortcoming but, more importantly, Dropbox's unwillingness to listen to their customer base. This isn't just a whim request which would only benefit the people in this thread. It would benefit the entire Dropbox user base. Color-coded folders is only an annoyance. A deaf UX team is unacceptable.

I really love highlighting of changes in editor and in project manager, but I would love it even more if there would be options to highlight folders. I can see single files changed, but in project that has very complicated structure is often difficult to find a file changed in a folder.
