Overall employment in office and administrative support occupations is projected to decline from 2022 to 2032. However, about 2.1 million openings are projected each year, on average, in these occupations due to the need to replace workers who leave the occupations permanently.
BLS employment projections, wage, and other data for related occupations not shown in the following table are available on the Data for Occupations Not Covered in Detail page. Information highlighting physical demands, cognitive and mental requirements, and other qualifications for workers in this group are available in a BLS Occupational Requirements Survey (ORS) profile.

The State Universities Civil Service System office, on behalf of the Merit Board, approves salary rates and ranges for each authorized classification in use by Employers. Employers request Merit Board approval to establish, revise, correct, or delete pay rates or ranges through the Salary Data System, a web-based electronic approval process. All approved rates and ranges are compiled into a monthly report available in PDF format on the Salary Range Report page. This report is updated on the 15th (approximately) of each month. Listed below are actual, real-time, active pay ranges contained in the Salary Data System.
* The Hourly, Monthly, and Yearly tabs are calculations done for your convenience. However, they are based on calculations using the work week and hours per year based on the State of Illinois Central Payroll System calculations, and may not be completely accurate in certain circumstances (i.e. employees paid bi-weekly). Please refer to the Actual Reported Ranges tab for the approved range.
