The first troubleshooting step I would take is re-boot the computer and re-launch InDesign to see if that fully refreshes the fonts list. Since the Light style of Interstate is missing from InDesign it shouldn't be an issue of whether the font was installed for all apps in the Creative Cloud desktop app. On the other hand it might be worth it to try installing the fonts for all apps if the family wasn't installed already. Make sure your installation of InDesign is actively logged into your CC account.
Are you running any font management applications? A couple of rival graphics applications have their own font mangement utilities; they can cause some technical issues with fonts -such as making some weights in certain type families disappear from the font menu.
For work, our primary font is Interstate OTF (Regular, Bold, Black, Light, Italic). I work in a mac environment (iMac 27" 5k, macOS High Sierra, Adobe CC 2018), and have the font family installed in Font Book. The family works fine in Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. However, InDesign is fussy. Sometimes I can use it fine with no issues. Other times, "Bold" just won't be in my list of usable fonts.
Have you tried placing the font in the User font folder which can be found through Macintosh HD>User>Home>Library>Fonts? On many Macs the Home folder library is hidden. To get to it: Launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the folder called Fonts. See screen shot:
try suitcase fusion 30 day free trial and drop the font in there, if it does not install, there is something wrong with it. That is the difference between a professional font manager and the basic stuff that comes with mac. Suitcase fusion will not let you put something bad in it. Font doctor ( which comes with suitcase fusion) would help you fix the font.
I Have the same problem, on all fonts in Suitcase Fusion. When i forgot to start up Fusion before Indesign, i have to close InDesign et reopen the App to use my font. And its a recent problem, only InDesign had change, Suitcase is the same, and no system update. So, what is the problem with Adobe and Suitcase ?
TypeKit also conflicts with fonts I own. For example, I purchased some weights of Calluna and installed other weights through TK. ID tells me the ones I purchased are missing. I assume that's TK's doing. I love ID but sometimes--!
have been havign the same problem off and on typekit fotns are not avaialble . Turns out that I ahd been logged out of my Adobe accoutn for soem unkonw reason - when I logged back in - typekit fonts were teher
Actually, that seemed to work only once - next time I had the same problem - have many books with many files/chapters[more than 300]- what a pain to go in and repoint the fonts each time - In my case I had montserrat OTF [installed form website] and the Montserrat from Typekit - seems that Typekit takes over and cannot find the OTF font. I had placed the font in all possible ID folders, etc but nada- Finally went to my windows fonts folder and deleted the Typekit duplicate fonts - then laboriously repointed all fonts again - but thankfully for the last time.
I have a similar problem. Many fonts that I load and activate in both suitcase 12.1 and font book won't show in In Design CC, yet they show in all other programs and used to show perfectly in CS6 (without having to restart in design). I waste so much time trying to get fonts to work in CC. Something really needs to be done about it. We shouldn't have to have 2 copies of the same font on our machines for them to work in In Design. If we put them in the In Design fonts folder, they won't work anywhere else, only in In Design, so we are having to have 2 copies of all our fonts. Such a waste of space and time. Adobe please figure this out for the next update of In Design CC.
I've tried the solutions offered, but the particular fonts or weights of fonts that InDesign loses aren't TypeKit, aren't managed by anything. They're just Windows installed OpenType fonts. It's a huge PITA.
my workaround - package the files [making sure you have all correct fonts ]- this creates a font folder [and links folder] then open the file from the package - it will always use the fonts in the fonts folder
I have a similar, though different, font problem. I'm using lots of Adobe fonts, and about half the time when I start up InDesign, the fonts aren't available and I get the missing fonts error. I have to close all Adobe apps and reopen them, sometimes multiple times, for the fonts to actually load. This is despite the fact that Creative Cloud always shows them installed and active. Then it's fine until the next reboot. This is very annoying and time-consuming. Windows 11
Thank you for posting this!!!! I've been going crazy for weeks because nothing was working, even tried 2 different font management programs and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't show system active fonts... I must have accidentally clicked on that filter before.
I've had trouble with Helvetica Neue going missing from InDesign several times. I just clicked on the dropdown button on the list of fonts and it looked like there was a filter turned on. I'm not even sure what filter it was, I just turned it off and suddenly I could find Helvetica Neue again. Thanks for sharing this suggestion.
Figma gives you access to an extensive catalog of Google Web Fonts. You can also access any local fonts installed on your computer in the font picker. If you're using Figma in the browser, you will...
I'm using Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL 2) with Oh My Zsh to pimp my bash, but I can't make the Ubuntu terminal render the Powerline fonts properly. Any idea on how to set up WSL to work with these fonts?
Now press that windows icon from your keyboard and search for Font Settings.Under Add Fonts, you can drag and drop the ttf files. Windows will automatically install all these fonts. You can then go to your Terminal and set the required font.
Yes, there is some support for custom fonts in Office Online but it does have limitations. While editing a document for example in Word Online, in the font box type the exact name of the custom font that's installed locally (preview the font in control panel and that shows the proper name) and then that font is available.
I tried this by installing a free font and with a bit of trial and error, I got it to appear and used it in my document. If other users on different computers have this font installed, they will see the font in the document as it's intended, otherwise, it will fall back to a default font. Limitations include in the preview when opening the document, it doesn't appear to show the custom font and also not sure about printing, you'd have to try and see if it works properly.
@Cian Allner It does not work for me. I have installed a custom font, and I know for sure its name is Jinxed. It is an .otf file, does that matter? The file name is Jinxed-Regular.otf, what name do I have to type in because it doesn't work.
@Cian Allner can confirm that this works on Linux (Ubuntu MINT 20.04.1) using Microsoft Edge (Dev channel) browser. I think the trick is to check in another Wordprocessing application as to how does the font name show up, and then use it as-is). Many fonts have suffixes like -regular, -italic, -bold, in their file-name (.TTF or .OTF) but those are not the font names by default. Often the font name if the part before the hyphen, but many times not. Best is to use a font-viewer tool to extract to font-name and use that in the font search bar of office 365 web/online.
Hello, I had just found a solution, I know its a few years late but may also help others that come across this. If you add the font to your font settings locally then it should appear online on Microsoft 365.
Interstate 75 is a RP2040-powered driver board for HUB75-style panels - the LED matrix panels that you sometimes see making up big fancy billboards or scrolling LED signage. We've made it so it can slot tidily into the back of a panel, with minimal extra hardware required. You can also now get an Interstate 75 W which has wireless internet connectivity, courtesy of Raspberry Pi Pico W Aboard!
You can power Interstate 75 and attached panels either through the screw terminals or (if you're drawing a modest amount of power) via the USB connector. LED matrix panels are hungry beasties - officially a 64x64 panel can consume up to 4 amps of electricity. Unofficially, you will probably get away with a lot less ampage than this if you're using it for things like displaying text or numbers and not driving the panels hard - we've had our examples running on four 64x64 panels from a 2A supply.
HUB75 panels have 16 pin data in and data out connectors on the back - you'll need to plug Interstate 75 into the data in connector. The backs of the panels should all have arrow markings which you can use to see the direction in which the data should be flowing through the panel.
The 16-pin connector on Interstate 75 will only provide a data signal to the panel, it won't provide it with enough electricity to power it. To power the panel, you'll need to connect it up to the screw connectors on Interstate 75, using the red and black power cable that comes with the panel. Loosen up the screws and slot the fork in-between the screw and the metal post, then tighten up the screws and give the wires a little tug to check they're securely held in place. Make sure you have the polarity correct - red to + and black to -.
The other end of the cable has a white plug on it - plug this to the power connector on your panel (marked 'power' on some panels, or just VCC and GND on others). The clippy part of this connector means it should also only go in one way round, though there's no harm in double checking that the red wires go into VCC and the black wire is connected to GND.
We're not going to go a huge amount of detail about chaining multiple panels in this tutorial but you can use the grey ribbon cables that come with the panels to do this - just plug one end of this cable into the vacant data out connector on the first panel, and the other end into the data in connector of the next panel into the chain.
