Dr. Eversman, in his letter accompanying the fall bill, indicated that
the Company incurred several expenses this summer related to the sewer
system. Sewer lines run behind the cottages where the eletric and
phone lines run. Some of the lines actually run underneath cottages
that have been enlarged. This creates a significant problem for all
if any replacement or repair is needed on these lines. Rather than
pave roads now, I think it would be far sounder to consider the
replacement of the sewer lines. Why dig up the roads after repaving?

Delighted to hear that something is being done. Determining the scope
of what may need to be done is paramount.

Gere Flick's point seems to be well made: Why launch a road
resurfacing project if the Park may have to put in a whole or partial
new sewer system and some of the pipes may need to go under the roads.
To proffer a metaphor: Why paint the wall if you are going to have to
tear off the wall board to put in new plumbing?

The current proposal to consider resurfacing the roads seems to me to
be premature; resurfacing is cosmetic unless water runoff is addressed
(Civil Engineering, Road Design 101) - especially important in a area
where winter sees thawing and freezing of surface water.

My strongest recommendation is that the Park have a comprehensive
infrastructure renovation and upgrade plan that will sustain our
grandchildrens' enjoyment of Linwood Park.

Regards,
Andy
