Matt has completed a major prunning of the trees in Linwood. There
have been some folks who question the results. I spoke to Matt and he
provided me with an excellant explanation of the principles of proper
pruning for trees. The trees have never been properly maintain in the
park to assure strong, healthy trees. There were several problems,
for instance, there are trees still to come down that have rotted on
the inside (you can usually see some evidence somewhere on the tree).
Also there were many cankers from broken limbs, storm damage, or other
wounds that would eventually lead to further rotting of the tree and
create an unhealthy tree. Any branch that is growing down also needs
to be removed as well as "suckers". These, as well as dead branches,
weaken the tree as the tree will try to "heal" itself and much of its
nutrition will be used in its attempt to heal. As Matt explained,
when you have a serious wound, the body trys to heal it and as a
result, the rest of the body does not receive all of the nutrition is
needs to be fully healthy.

If you would like to know more, please see Matt. Through his efforts,
we should be able to enjoy even healthier trees in the coming years.
As a side note, he and his crew saved the Company and, therefore, the
cottage owners a significant amount of money.

Many thanks! Matt and his crew of Richard & Bill work extremely hard with
long hours, during this planned Tree Trimming & Removal Process. They
covered far more than we thought they would be able to, with a one week
rental on the lift equipment. I had a arborist drive through the park
yesterday and he too was impressed with the work that had been accomplished.
We have or will have by tomorrow morning 8-9 additional trees which we will
recommend to The Linwood Park Company to have professionally removed due to
liability, as to location. These trees should be remove and I only hope the
company will agree. These trees have a large orange marking to identify
them. They are dead and dangerous.

Again thanks for your "positive comments." Yes, if anyone has additional
questions, please feel free to speak to Matt or myself. This positive action
shows once again that working as a team, what can be accomplished for The
Linwood Park Community. Estimate savings $50,000 to $75,000.

Thanks Again.
