Hi,

I'm running a newly installed arch on my laptop and am having issues with wicd connecting to my WPA2 Personal encrypted router.  When I try from the CLI, it connects every time.  wicd gets to the point of authentication and then goes back to disconnected status.  I could sure use a clue.  I've been battling to get this lappy back up and running for the past 4 days.  HHHEEELLLPPP!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Look towards the bottom.

modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1

to make it permanent, create a file /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf containing

#/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=1

That seems to work for some people.

Roy,

That may have worked for some people, but not me.  Here's the output of my dmesg:  http://sprunge.us/BgBb .  I tried wicd then successfully connected using the CLI to send the sprunge.

Thanks,
Scott

I did have luck getting wicd to work on my system. I switched to NetworkManager, and have had no further issues. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NetworkManager

Jeremiah,

In my case - on a whim I went into wicd's preferences and in the dhcp client section, and changed the (Automatic) setting to dhclient and it has worked flawlessly since then.  I think the auto mode was using dhcpcd which doesn't work as well.  Thanks for checking it out and posting your results.

Thanks again,
Scott
