I am new to Linux.  I just installed Zorin Lite 7.1.  I chose this version mainly because I am using a netpad computer with a single core Atom processor (humble) system.  Here is my issue: When I try to open Google it tells me to go online.  So, I try to go online through my wi-fi.  When I do this I get a box that says:

Authenticate, system policy prevents modification of network settings for all users. An application is attempting to perform an action that requires priviliges.  Authentication is required to perform this action.

There is a line for typing in a password.  I have tried using my Uverse wifi password (the one the works for all of my other computers using XP),  and the Zorin password (the one that I used while installing Zorin.)  Neither of these work. I can't get connected to the internet. All my other Windows based machines are connected just fine.   Does anyone have suggestions?

When you first installed Zorin did you create more than one user
account? If you did then you need to log in into the Admin User account.
That would be the first account you created.

If I remember right, at least the Linux (Ubuntu) I am using, there is a setting on the wifi setup that says something like "all users may use this network"
