I have a Dell D-600 laptop running Xubuntu and Wicd with internal wifi using ipw2100 chipset.  My mom and I have the exact same router as I have - Linksys WRT54G2.  The only difference is that I flashed the firmware and put dd-wrt on mine.  We are both using WPA2 Personal for encryption.  My laptop automatically connects to my wifi at home, but never connects with my mom's wifi - even when I disable the encryption and try to connect without a password.  When I have the encryption enabled, it gets to "verifying authentication" and then times out.  When I disable it, it hangs on "obtaining an IP address".  This is very puzzling to me.  HELP!!!  Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Are you positevly sure both of you have the same wireless cards?

use lcpci command to determine if both of you carry the same wireless card.
