Doubt on __pthread_sighandler

Hi,

In a coredump backtrace occured in a signal handler, i can see the
symbol "__pthread_sighandler"
does it mean that signal handlers are being called in a separate
thread?

moreover i'm getting the coredump in the function
"__pthread_alt_unlock" in signal handler, can somebody please help
giving your inputs if you had face this issue earlier.
