Hi Kiran,

Nice to see you back on group.

Hi Rajesh,

This is very good post on Qt and GUI design for Embedded OS.
Actually providing the GUI support for handheld devices such as, PDA,
Camera, Mobile etc., are common
now 'a days... None the less you can still make the GUI support
embedded OS.
Following are the important spects of providing the GUI support.

1. Study and integrate the X Window System. This is most important
components for GUI.
X11 / Xorg libraries are very efficient in making this possible.

2. Framebuffer concept
3. A GUI tool kit kickoff you windows etc.,
4. A well designed plan and visulaiztion concept is very necessary.

Well about Qt, yes it is free (opensource) and commercial too.
You can develop any software under the GPL and commercial also.

Qt can be used in following areas....

1. Application Design, any kind of GUI tool
2. Embedded Edition can make GUI support for mobiles, pda's etc., Qt
call it as Qtopia
3. 3D Visualiztion / OpenGL and many more......

Btw you have given me a good start to write an article on how to start
for GUI support on Embedded Linux / OS.
Sure i will post an article on this.

Keep writing
Lokesh
