I have a Sony PCG-F540 with 500MHz CPU and 64 MB of RAM. I tried
several Linux distributions on it. At the moment, I'm running FreeBSD
on the machine. It was the only operating system I tried other than
Windows ME which was originally on the machine that could handle
decent DVD video display fullscreen.

I'm trying out Debian Linux (Squeeze from netinst disk) on my desktop
machine, which is now about 5 years old, but has a lot more horsepower
than my laptop. Have been considering switching my laptop over to
Debian as well, but would only be interested in doing so if I could
get framebuffer support working. Thought it would be easier to keep
up to date and share files between the two machines if they're using
the same operating system. However, I can always run software built
for Debian in Linux emulation mode on the FreeBSD machine.

Sincerely,
Laura
