Hi colleagues,

My name is Jonathan Zhang, I am grateful to join this vibrant community, with which I share the vision. I look forward to the fun working with the talented engineers.

I joined today's fortnightly sync. In the meeting, I took the action item of sending info about UEFI certification test.

UEFI forum recognizes that standards without certification tests are not solid standards. Therefore it invests heavily on certification test development, the support mainly comes from OSV (such as Redhat), ISV (such as AMI) and IHV (such as Intel). As detailed in http://uefi.org/testtools, there are 2 categories of UEFI certification tests:
1. UEFI PI/DXE SCT (Self-Certification Test). This test runs as UEFI application. It is of no interest for us, since it tests the internal of firmware.
2. FWTS (Firmware Test Suite). This test runs in OS, and tests the firmware support for OS, from the viewpoint of OS. The details can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FirmwareTestSuite/ .

I dream of some day soon a firmware image built from LinuxBoot can pass FWTS, and that OSVs test their new versions of OS distribution on LinuxBooot firmware image, as a gatekeeper for such OS versions,.

Thanks,
Jonathan
