I discovered data crashes with our Samba Server 2.0.5a on Suse Linux 6.2.
Samba presents our main file-server. On our Windows workstations we are
using a program which use the btrieve 6.15 database engine. In the last days
we had several damaged data-files. Btrieve is a record-based
database-engine.
Options for samba:
locking = yes
oplocks = no
I know that these setting reduce network speed but perhaps they can solve
the problem.
Can anybody help?

I can't help, but can tell you that I had the same experience with the
Linux+Samba (2.0.5a) server that we used as fileserver for our
administration/bookkeeping. When more users were working in the same
applicationmodule, e.g order-entry, things went wrong from time to time. We
could repair the damaged files, but to be a bit safer, (with regret!) I
moved this application back to a Novell server (which gave some problems in
the past as well, but less frequent than the Samba server).
