Hello,

I'm using Samba 3.6.9 on a CentOS 6.5 machine and want to enable the
'recycler'-feature. So I added following lines to the [global]-section
of my smb.conf:

vfs object = recycle
recycle:repository = .deleted/%U
recycle:keeptree = Yes
recycle:touch = Yes
recycle:versions = Yes
recycle:maxsixe = 0
recycle:exclude = *.tmp
recycle:exclude_dir = /tmp
recycle:directory_mode = 0777
recycle:subdir_mode = 0777

After that I restarted SMB-Services, the clients and even the server by
itself. Unfortunately, the folder '.deleted" will be created but no
deleted file nor folder will be moved to that directory. The file
'/usr/lib64/samba/vfs/recycle.so' exists, so the installation seems to
be okay.

Is there anyone who has an idea why it doesn't work?

Best regards and thank you in advance.

You need to define a share to make recycle work.
EX.: [homes]
Path.....of homes
vfs object = recycle
...
Or:
[sales]
Path ...of sales
vfs object = recycle
...

Hello Daniel,

thank you for your reply. As far as I know the recycle feature should
take an effect for all shares, if you put in in the global section.
Whatever, I tried your suggestion and put the lines directly in the
share section - unfortunately without any effect. Any other ideas? :o[
