Hello,

Does anybody know why a connection to a local Linux Redhat 6.1 server
for time sync. is denied?
(The command used is: "rdate 192.168.3.22" the response is: "Connection
refused")

Trying to connect other servers (for ex. usno.pa-x.dec.com, etc.) works OK,
so I assume
the above host has a configuration problem (but port 37 is available, i.e.
not commented out in
/etc/services, on both tcp and udp).

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
Mihai.

You need to also make sure it's not commented out in /etc/inetd.conf
(the default for RedHat is commented)

The "from" must be wrong, nothing that helpful ever comes from the TAN team!
