Hi all,

Having much trouble trying to install RH9 on my Epox motherboard which
features a Via VT8237 RAID SATA controller. I have a single SATA HD but
still require the RAID drivers in order to install redhat. Via have
only released (publically) drivers for RH7.2. Are there any home brew
install drivers floating around? Does anybody know of any beta drivers
or official RH drivers? I'm afraid the temporary solution of 'install to
normal P-IDE drive, patch and transfer' isn't possible in my case as I
lack a second HD.

Cheers in advance.
Tom.

The problem is that the kernel on the Redhat9 CD don't support SATA, which
makes it impossible to install it on the normal way.

You can doanload Fedora, which is the latest version of "Redhat" and that
should have the SATA drivers which is part of the kernel enabled.

AFAIK there is "still" no support for this chipset in present kernels,
there is however a patch to add support for 2.4.22.

kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/pepole/alan/linux-2.4/2.4.22/patch-2.4.22-ac4.bz2

My website contains a page on how i installed slackware on such a drive.
You can also use google to find out more, you are not the only one with
this problem at presant.
