I can compare two directories Under Sun Solaris (and also Xenix)
via a command 'dircmp'. Does Linux has a similar command for that?
I searched around RedHat4.2, and am not able to find 'dircmp' or
an equivalent. Can any body give me some lead?
Thanks!
Philip

Thanks for your e-mail on diff.
I found out that 'diff -q directory1 directory2' served my purpose.
Thanks!

I'm not familiar with dircmp, so I don't know if you are trying to compare
the listing of the two directories or files with the same names in the
directories, so here's both ways.
Compare listings of two directories using process substitution in bash:
diff <(ls dir1) <(ls dir2)
Compare files in two directories:
diff dir1/* dir2 # last arg must be dir

Thanks for your e-mail on diff.
I used 'diff -q directory1 directory2' which served my purpose.
This command will will display (files names):
1) only files in directory1
2) only files in directory2, and
3) modified files which are commom to both diretories.
