Can anyone help me?
I'm trying to install RedHat on an old 486 server.
I've formated the SCSI HD's
I've got a boot disk that starts up fine, asks me about the install then
just when it
looks like it's about to start installing, the blue screen goes and I get to
a black screen
like a command prompt screen but I can't type any commands in that should
work.
Any ideas anyone?
Please email me ch...@webthing.co.uk

Cheers.

I got the same problem .
It's your settings for your vedio card ,when linux starts
to load "x" your vedio card blanks the screen. you have
got to make different settings for your vedio card.
Best of luck, I've got to get on Xfree86 web site and
download RPMS for my Vedio card.

IRQ conflict.. try to remove any cards that you don't need inside the
system.. Pull the network card, and any others that you don't explicitly
need. If the software installs, then you know its got to do with a memory
or IRQ conflict. Windows and Novell tend to let you share IRQ's but Linux
doesn't. You probably have to change the address for the Network card to
get it to work.
