rh9 and alsa 0.93a / 0.92

Hi everybody,
i update my system from redhat 7.2 to 9.0. My soundcard (Terratec 512
digital PCI) is not supported from redhat. So i look for the
alsa-drivers (0.93a) and try to compile it. All looks fine, but during
the "make install" i get a "unresolved symbol schedule_work" from the
snd.o module. i google for the message and find a lot of stuff about
this error, but no solution!
I do the following:
i compile an custom kernel linux-2.4.20-9 with CONFIG_SOUND=y
install and running system with the kernel,
then i do the "configure and make" in the alsa sources, all seems good.
but during the "make install" i get the the unresolved symbol from snd.o.
