The Fedora installation process took me through a wizard to set up the
Grub boot loader, and I set up Fedora to be the default OS. But when I
reboot, Windows starts automatically and I don't even get the option
to boot in Fedora. Obviously, Grub is not the boot loader as promised!
Windows now sees hda and hdb1.
Any idea what I am missing here?
The Grub bootloader would have been installed during installation and it
seems that Win XP has been made the default option on boot.
What happens with the Grub bootloader after installation , by default , Grub
inserts the "hiddenmenu" command in /boot/grub.conf file so that it hides
the Grub bootloader menu and you will need to comment out or remove this
command in the grub.conf file so that the menu options appear.
For the time being , to get to the Grub menu , on boot press [Escape] to
display the menu options and once you get into Fedora , edit the
/boot/grub.conf file to remove / comment out the hiddenmenu command and if
necessary , change the default boot option sequence if needed.
Also , your partitioning could be wrong , when you create a dual boot system
with Windows and Linux , Windows always goes on the first active bootable
drive , which is usually hda as it wants to control the boot process and
you use the Grub boot loader to add a boot sequence onto the first sector of
hda for both Windows and Linux.
From what you have said , you want to have Windows on one HDD and Fedora on
the other HDD ? , to do this install XP onto hda FIRST and once this install
is working properly , install Fedora next on hdb

Boot off the rescue CD and go to /mnt/sysimage/boot/grub
and edit the grub.conf file...
comment out the line hidden display (or something close to it)
save the file and reboot
