Hello,

How do I get my Linux DHCP Client to register itself in WIndows DNS
server?

On my Windows DHCP clients I run ipconfig /registerdns and I am
looking for a Red Hat command for the same result.

Please note that I do not have a RedHat DHCP server, so the
/etc/dhcpd.conf options of ddns updates is not useful to me.

Also, I have selected Update DNS always on my WIndows DHCP server, but
that feature seems to work only for WIndows clients. I have dynamic
updates enabled on my Windows DNS server.

Thank you!

If you find an answer please let me know. I have a very similar
problem. My linux clients get dhcp addresses from my 2000 AD dhcp and
dns server but don't register anything other than the ip address and
mac address in dhcp.
Thank you!

if /etc/dhclient.conf exists then its fine otherwise create it and make
this entry in it

send host-name "<ur host name>";

save the file and reboot the system.i've tested this on redhat 8 client
and windows 2000 server with DHCP & DDNS.
