problem in RH8.0 konsole window

Hai
I am using RH 8.0 version
when I want to open terminal(konsole) as root (in GUI mode) terminal
gets open and it closes automatically. For in case of other users(not
root) it works fine.
My questions are
1. please can you tell me what is the problem, can it be solved ?
2. If it has to be reloaded please can you tell me which (i need only
konsole) rpm/package file to be loaded.
