Just an addition to this Ramon, I have used Best products on a
large network of HP, Suns & Alpha's for about 8-10 years now with
much success. Best is very nice to work with and quite willing
to help provide you the best setup for your situation.
My only problem with them has been replacing a few gel cells over
the years which is to be expected.

Probably a better approach to handle command line arguments for this

/opt/wordperfect/wpbin/xwp "${@-}" &
Of course change the path to wherever you have it installed.

I apologize for being a nuisance, but I've wandered around my RH CD
without figuring out where the libraries are that are mentioned in this

libguile.so.3 is needed by gnucash-1.1.23-4
libXmHTML.so.1.1 is needed by gnucash-1.1.23-4
libXm.so.1 is needed by gnucash-1.1.23-4
And if there's a good way to find such things, I'd love to know what it
is. I'm getting a pretty long list of programs that I'd like to try,
but I lack some library or compiler or something that's needed.

I was currious about this too, since my dhcp server was in UTC (GMT) time.
I have the ISC dhcp v2.?? server on my system.
This is what the man page states:
dhcpd.leases(5) dhcpd.leases(5)
NAME
dhcpd.leases - DHCP client lease database
DESCRIPTION
The Internet Software Consortium DHCP Server keeps a per-
sistent database of leases that it has assigned. This
<snip>
Lease times are specified in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT),
not in the local time zone. Since Greenwich is actually
on Daylight Savings Time part of the year, there is proba-
bly nowhere in the world where the times recorded on a
lease are always the same as wall clock times. On a unix
machine, one can often figure out the current time in GMT
by typing date -u.
Also, as for RH5.1, it was a symlinke from /etc/localtime to
/usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Pacific
RH part of the problem for people who upgrade, was that there is no longer
a Pacific (new).

Randy et all,
I have my RPM database on physically locked media (Zip disk) and
verified all (most, probably) root-kit affected RPM's. All set on that
front.
I've checked the process list for anything fishey, and it looks okay (as
far as one can see with the process list).
I did install the latest version of imapd, however, on a different host
when someone tried to hack in the daemon reported "hack attempt" in the
syslog. Not so this time. This worries me. That the log didn't say
anything about whether or not the user is authenticated worries me as
well.
As far as devices go, I found the following things not owned by a any
package:
file /dev/cdrom is not owned by any package
file /dev/mouse is not owned by any package
file /dev/ptyp is not owned by any package
file /dev/ptyq is not owned by any package
file /dev/ptyr is not owned by any package
file /dev/ptys is not owned by any package
file /dev/tape is not owned by any package
I double check each sym. link I made myself, inc. cdrom, mouse, and
tape, but I can't account for the other devices -- what are they?

Offhand, I would say the problem is that the whois server you are querying
claims to handle only .mil addresses. Although linux includes
encryption that some would claim constitutes munitions, I belive they
have not yet been made part of the military. Try using another whois
server.

First you can get a text editor like Programmer's File Editor
<http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/cpaap/pfe/> that understands different EOL
formats. PFE is freeware, freely redistributable, and very powerful. It has
a toolbar, editable macros, extensive help, programmable keys, and lots of
other customization.
Alternatively, you could stick with Notepad and just use unix2dos to
convert. The RPM is available at Red Hat and it's mirrors, probably in the
contrib section.

How so? I've seen plenty of fried MBs that went along with the modem card
that was plugged into an ISA slot.
The parallel port supplies no power and is designed for TTL compatible I/O,
its about as robust as anything. Powering down printers and plugging in a
different one without shutting off the computer has never caused us any
hardware troubles.
I don't know if the ZIP and Ditto are probed and configured at boot or not
since I have neither, but if you can compile their support as a module then
you could load and unload it dynamically and everything should work.
Doesn't the ZIP have a parallel pass-thru? Have you tried the Ditto
plugged into it?
A pox on all these parallel port devices anyhow. SCSI was designed for
this kind of thing. If people were't pennywise and pound foolish, SCSI
volumes would be up to where these stupid parallel and IDE interfaces
offered no savings.

Hello,
I am running RH 5.1 on an IBM 6x86MX300 64Mb
How can I configure X windows to run on Creative Exxtreme 3d AGP (
4mb) ?
Are there any specific X Servers for it?
I have tried using XConfigurator. But the screen goes blank when I
try to start X windows.
Can anyone help ?
Thanks in advance.
