I have a need to boot into Linux as fast as possible.
What is the best method.

Note:
Intel PII 350MHz
256MB Ram
OS installed on HD

It depends upon the distro and what services you are starting.

You can reduce (or eliminate if only 1 OS) the time that lilo/grub waits
for input duing boot.

If hardware is fixed, you can disable any service like kudzu that detects
new hardware during boot (just do not disable pcmcia/hotplug related
things if using that or usb).

You can disable other daemons not being used.

Boot to runlevel 3 (console) instead of 5 (X).
