An ICEWM user here...
* "emerge sys-power/hibernate-script" and set it up (I use the suspend
to disk option)
* In /etc/sudoers.d/001 I have the lines...
waltdnes i660 = (root) NOPASSWD: /sbin/poweroff
waltdnes i660 = (root) NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hibernate
* In ~/bin I have script "hb" which consists of
#!/bin/bash
sync
sleep 15
sudo /usr/sbin/hibernate
I prefer to type "hb" from an xterm. You could set up a button to
execute the command...
sudo /usr/sbin/hibernate
...if you want to go the "menu" route. Similar comments for poweroff.
