Hi,

you should see partimage :
http://www.partimage.org/

It run on network, so you can remotely save and restore your partitions
works with :

ext2, ext3, reiser, fat16 and 32, jfs, xfs an others.

I use it to backup and restore my gentoo servers, and it works well.
