I think masking is premature; there was never any sort of decision made in the

It appears Deigo has made a decision,
What do you think this is, a democracy?

Relooking at the discussion, it appears it was quite clear, the sound
herd does not want to maintain it, no one else stepped up, it would be
put in an overlay once it was punted.

Not really. It should have been gone long ago, but every time someone
took over to save it from its long overdue fate. Just let it die,
rather than hanging around zombie-like in the tree for another eternity.

What will be done for IUSE=xmms? Should it stay or go? If it should go,
I assume it should not be now (in case someone wants to step up and
maintain xmms), but if not, when?

I've currently masked, packages will be upgraded to remove the IUSE when the
delete is final.

Probably not covered everything, I left Mr_Bones_ and jakub to run a check for
me afterward, unfortunately identifying every and all the packages on the
first run was pretty impossible -considering also there are packages with
unstated dependencies, like two XFCE4 packages- I'll mask and notify about
anything else that might come up as soona s they can give me the data.

While masking, did you also correct any ebuilds you might have affected
that depended on those packages? Not trying to be rude or bitter, just
making sure everything was covered (since the perl component is a dep of
another package or 2).

I don't suppose it's possible to let amarok continue to use all those xmms
visualizations, is it? It'd be nice...

Yes that will happen in many situations; anything that depends on xmms
libs will need to be rebuilt without them ;)

Removing xmms breaks amarok, at least for me. I had to recompile xine-lib
without the xmms use flag to get amarok to play music again.

These two were not depending on xmms but won't build without it, also masked
pending removal.
