Installed ALSA 0.9.8 (compiled with --with-cards=ali5451,us428).
Installed hotplug-2002_04_01-13 from sourceforge.net.
Installed tascam_firmware-0.1 from sourceforge.net
Installed Tascam firmware bin files in /usr/share/usb/tascam
All I need to do is get it to work...
Here's the output of /var/log/messages when I plug in the Tascam:
Nov 4 04:13:45 laptop kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:0f.0-1, assigned
address 2
Nov 4 04:13:45 laptop kernel: usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod
0x1604/0x8000) is not claimed by any active driver.
Nov 4 04:13:48 laptop /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB
product 1604/8000/100
## here's where I run modprobe snd-usb-us428:
Nov 4 04:14:19 laptop kernel: usb.c: registered new driver snd-usb-audio
Nov 4 04:14:19 laptop kernel: usb.c: registered new driver snd-usb-us428
I've tried running /etc/hotplug/usb/tascam_fw by hand using the device
addresses from /var/adm/messages below, but I'm not having much luck
with the syntax:
root@laptop# /etc/hotplug/usb/tascam_fw 0x1604/0x8000
root@laptop# tail -1 /var/log/messages
Nov 4 04:39:07 laptop ./tascam_fw: unknown product
Basically, I get this messsage no matter how I call the script.
root@laptop# tail -5 /lib/modules/2.4.21/modules.usbmap

Any ideas? Does anyone have it working? It looks like I'm fairly close.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
