Help needed with Philips CDD3600 CD writer

I've got the above SCSI CD-RW and it seems to be cursed!
Every time I use it with any other SCSI device it causes bus errors but is
fine with nothing else on the chain. It doesn't seem to matter which SCSI
card I use, Adaptec or AdvanSys, the result is the same. It cannot be
termination as everything is fine with several hard disks until this piece
of crap is plugged in.
It is getting to the point of throwing it in the bin so I thought I'd ask
this group if it had any ideas first!

If no terminator at the end of the chain, and all is ok, then CD-RW seems to
be terminated.

If the CD-RW is terminated, then you are having 2 terminators in the chain...

which is not supposed to work well... and may cause what you are
experiencing.
