Sorry about the multiple postings but I'm getting desparate!
The problem I have is with a SIIG AP-40 SCSIpro card and IBM DDRS-34560 hard
disks and it occurs on Mandrake8.2 and RedHat7.3 but they are the only other
two I have tried. No problem with RedHat6.2 so I can only assume it is a
module problem.
What the problem is, is that once the kernel has loaded the advansys module
it seems to ignore the first SCSI disk in the chain (irrespective of ID
number) and labels the second as /dev/sda and so on.
Redhat6.2, as I said, correctly configures all the drives and works fine, so
in fact does Windows98se so what the hell is wrong with the later distros?
This particular SCSI card has on board BIOS which also configures correctly
and with RedHat6.2 I am even using the drives in software RAID0 without
problems.
I'm assuming this is a major bug within the advansys module but as I can't
even load the O.S. I have no way of getting info!
Can anyone else shead any light on this subject or even give me a pointer in
the right direction before I throw this SCSI card out the window!
P.S. why do all the post 6.2 Redhats constantly screw up on bus resets on
IDE CDROM's during install! (or am I just unlucky)
Thanks for any help recieved
