Hi,

I have 2 x20 gig drives..

/dev/hde and /dev/hdg both partitioned the same

i setup my raid tab exactly like the Software howto says.. and just switched
the names of the drives.

then i did mkraid /dev/md0 then it says
handling md device /dev/hde1
analyzing superblock
disk0: etc etc superblock some numbers ..
/dev/hde1 mounted
mkraid: aborted .. look at syslog or /proc/mdstat for clues

ok.. so i checked syslog.. nothign ..
checked mdstat... it says Personalities : raid 0 1 4 5
read_ahead not
set
unused drive
{none}

that's it... i d/led hdparm.. checked both drives and read ahead are set on
both drives.. any ideas?

Raid 1 is mirroring.

With every raid 1 config I have ever used, One drive can be configured
and partitioned. The other is added as a mirror without loading software
or partitioning it. It then builds the mirror from the first drive.

Net result, one logical drive with 2 physical copies and only one drive
space available for use.
