AcceleRAID 170 and Red Hat 6.2

Could someone point me to some resources that might help me install RH
6.2 on an AcceleRAID 170?

I've been using 200's - which were replaced by 150's - which are now out
of production - leaving me with the
170 as one of very few Mylex options.

Let's say I can build a kernel (2.16/2.17) with 170 support on a system
with an Adaptec 78xxx controller. I
still have to find a way to boot the new kernel and get the RH
installation program to offer to install on
/dev/rd/c0d0.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
