kernel 2.4.9 pppoe fail(pppd 2.4.1)

I wanna use new kernel's pppoe function.
so I patched pppd 2.4.1
and I compiled necessary modules.
finally typed 'pppd eth0'
so I patched pppd 2.4.1
and I compiled necessary modules.
finally typed 'pppd eth0'
but Next one is command 'pppd eth0' output..
Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.1/pppoe.so loaded.
PPPoE Plugin Initialized
Sending PADI
Tag error: TAG_SRV_ERR
Failed to negotiate PPPoE connection: 2 No such file or directory
I can't get internet connection.
I don't know whether this problem come from server side or client
setting.
Please advise me.
