vnc will run without a problem if I start it as root; however, when I
try to start it from a normal user account xstartup and then xterm
begin to run and then are killed. I checked the log file and this is
what I found:

Xvnc: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
xsetroot: unable to open display 'stupid:1'
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: stupid:1
twm: unable to open display "stupid:1"

I searched for the libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 file, but only found:

./usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3

which I assume is a more recent library file? Why would I be able
run vnc as root and not as a normal user if I do not have the proper
file? I thought that vnc was somehow using the most recent file and
maybe there was some permissions issue, but the file is set to 777.
Does anyone have any idea why vnc will run for root, but not anyone
else? Thanks.
