A bit more tedious (atleast for me) to use the mouse. But gpm
sometimes does not copy anything at all and will paste blank lines.
Secondly is there any option to paste between console and X? Or any
program/daemon which helps in this? I have to switch between console
and X and even if I use an Xterm like konsole, I am not able to
copy/paste between other X apps and konsole. How do other people
copy/paste between console and X sessions?
I suggest using the mouse and install the gpm package. Then it is:
leftclick-and-drag to select, go to another console and rightclick to
paste.

Not that I know. You could paste the text you want to select into a
text file. Then switch to X and copy-paste it from there.

I don't use Xterm but Konsole from KDE. But copy-pasting should be the
same. Leftclick-and-drag in a window to copy and middle-click in your
window of choice to paste. As I don't have a middle mouse button I
need to press both buttons to achieve the same effect. As I learned
from a previous discussion it could be pretty much any button, so you
may need to experiment a bit.
If you're using screen open a the console screen session in X and paste
into it with simultaneous left-right click.

If xterms are running under the same screen. Otherwise you need to use
ctrl-a > to write to file, and ctrl-a < to read it (if two different
screens, or just use the file written by the first screen).

If you use "screen" (which was probably not what you meant in the
above):
ctrl-a [ # enter copy mode
navigate to where you want to go # arrow keys, /? for searching
space # start copy
space # end copy
go to the xterm you want to paste into
Thanks Alan, that was what I needed to know, two different "screen"
running under different ttys or one on console and one under an xterm.
Screen is coool!
