Ok,

Have searched FAQs and google groups. Apt-file update is failing because it
is unable to find the file Contents-i386.gz file on the
http://security.debian.org site. However having downloaded the
Contents-i386.gz file from both the ftp.us and the ftp.uk sites I know that
my downloads and connection are working.

The google search (group search), after removing the bug fixes from the
results showed three threads with this error. Two in german and one in
dutch. Can anyone help me in English

Thank-you in advance

Steve

For what it's worth, I am experiencing the same problem:

# apt-file update
Error: http://security.debian.org//dists/stable/updates/Contents-i386.gz not found
