Putting it here in case someone needs it.

Issue: Slack no longer shows tray icon

Background: I user Slack and follow the usual workaround in order to install the deb package:
    - download libindicator3-7
    - download libappindicator3-1
    - install slack-desktop

Problem: Started maybe a month or so ago - the tray icon doesn't show anymore.  The app installs but no tray icon

Solution: use libayatana-appindicator3-1 instead of libappindicator3-1 by unpacking the slack deb file.

There's a script on github that does this exactly.
