Yes! We can hope for the Debian 5.0 ("lenny") release
approaching really soon now. So please, check the translation
status of your favourite language, and fix any missing
translations now!

#447774 is still open. Could you reconsider the patch when you have a
chance please, as it adds translatable text.

2009-01-23 23:59 GMT (Friday night). How much time would be left for
translators?

I've not seen a response to this; I hope I've just missed it. How long
would you like/need for the translators?
Also, as the translations come in we'll be able to start testing
CD/DVD builds too and see how space is working out.

IMHO, it would require ~1 week for translation if some big changes (such as
addition of paragraphs and sections) will be necessary before the string freeze.
Otherwise, it would need only a few days after the freeze.
FYI the timeline for the etch release notes just before the release
was as follows:
- 2007-04-04 01:00 UTC: Announcement of possible deadlines[1].
- 2007-04-04 12:00 UTC: Announcement of deadlines[2].
- 2007-04-05 01:00 UTC: String freeze of the English version[3].
- 2007-04-07 04:00 UTC: Deadline for translation (for CD/DVD image inclusion).

But it was very tight for translators (partly due to many big changes in English
version for about two weeks just before this deadline).
BTW, how realistic is this assumption of the deadline, "Friday night"?
I see many TODO comments in the document...
