Dear Maintainer,
TL;DR: There is a upstream bug/patch that solves the issue.
See <
https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups-filters/issues/422>
When printing some PDF files, using the Debian server as a remote print queue, foomatic-rip sometimes produces an error message "Invalid page range: ...". This message is sent to stdout instead of the log file.
Due to this log message, the PostScript that is sent to stdout contains invalid command sequences.
The patch for upstream solves this issue.
I verified it by replacing the 'I' of the message in the foomatic-rip binary with a '\0'
I verified that the bug has not been fixed in the source of the testing/unstable branches:
filter/foomatic-rip/options.c: printf("Invalid page range: %s\n", tok);
Please note that the very same error also applies to the foomatic-filters package.
Thanks a lot,
Daniel
