Package: youtube-dl
Version: 2021.12.17-2
Severity: minor

Reading /usr/share/doc/youtube-dl/NEWS.Debian.gz we see we shouldn't
bother installing youtube-dl .

Well, please say that clearly in the package description too!

Sure, you say "transitional package", but that isn't enough.

Yes, you do say
$ aptitude show $@|grep yt-dlp
Depends: yt-dlp

Applied in Git.

Thanks a lot for the fix
Andreas.

Andreas, were you planning to do an upload? Because I was about to open
a bug against ftp.debian.org to request removal of the package now that
bookworm is released. I can wait if you want, but I don't see much
point in keeping youtube-dl in sid.

I'm happy to request this change for a bookworm point release (via
bookworm-proposed-updates), though, and do the upload. Seems like a
pretty simple change, I can't imagine release managers opposing it.

I did not upload due to freeze policy. Feel free to upload if you
consider a bookworm-proposed-updates sensible or just ask for removal.
I have no preference over both options.

Kind regards
Andreas.
