Bug#842959: gnome-session-flashback fails due to signal 11

Dear Maintainer,

Starting XDM with `systemctl start xdm` and logging in with username and password causes the screen to return to the XDM login dialog while

[ 96.935153] gnome-session-f[1116]: unhandled signal 11 at 00000000 nip 0fbf9600 lr 0fbf95fc code 30001

is logged in `dmesg`. This happens 100 % for > 10 times. I expect the gnome desktop to be displayed.

This happens on an iMac G4 PowerMac6,1.

I wonder if it is the same issue as https://bugs.debian.org/842367.
Can you please paste the output of the following command?

Removal of `gnome-session-flashback` doesn't help in my case.

You should not remove gnome-session-flashback.

Are you sure you pasted the output for gnome-session-fallback, and not
for gnome-session-flashback? These are different package names (note the
fall vs flash part).

Please also paste the output of this command:

$ apt-cache policy gnome-session-fallback

So far I do not understand how that old package (gnome-session-fallback)
can cause any harm when it should be empty already on Jessie.

`sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback` fails due to

Package gnome-session-fallback is not available, but is referred to
by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
gnome-session-flashback
