I am confused -- if it works fine on your desktop, then what is the
issue exactly?

I am unable to reproduce this behaviour. Can you provide me more
details:

* Which Desktop environment are you on?
* Have you installed any external go-packages?
* Is your (testing) system upto date?
* There was some issue with snowflake recently, due to which it wasn't
able to function properly, are you based in Russia by any chance?
* Can you please run riseup-vpn via your terminal and share with me the
output you get on terminal when riseup-vpn is choking/not connecting?

Looks like bitmask-root has some problems starting up. Could you please
provide me the output of these commands?

$ pkexec /usr/sbin/bitmask-root firewall stop
$ echo $?
$ pkexec /usr/sbin/bitmask-root firewall start 195.154.106.118 51.159.55.86 163.172.90.118
$ echo $?

Please consider to get back to me soonish, as we (debian) are currently in freeze and it'd get
more difficult to do further changes going ahead.

Thank you!

Nilesh

Understood. I think this is a missing dependency, I will add it and upload.
Could you please meanwhile install "iptables"?

$ sudo apt install iptables

After you do so, try to run riseup-vpn again. It might/should work.
Could you please check this and get back to me?

Thanks,
Nilesh

Yes, that seems to fixing it. Works fine.
Really thank you for your effort to bring this package on Debian and supporting it.
I hope you the best!
